Minneapolis on pace for near-record homicide number, as city sees violent crime spike

Minneapolis had 97 homicides in 1995. So far this year, the city has 34 homicides, a similar pace to that infamous year.

MINNEAPOLIS — On the evening of June 1, 1995, a man was shot in the street at 4th and Bryant Avenues North. He was the 42nd homicide victim in Minneapolis that year. But by the end of June, the city had 51. By the end of the year, a record-setting 97.

Police: Armed carjacking suspect killed by law enforcement following pursuit

Police say a white carjacking suspect, believed to be in his 20s, was firing at officers during a pursuit.

BURNSVILLE, Minn. — The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating a deadly shooting involving law enforcement and an armed motorist Sunday afternoon on Highway 13 in Burnsville.

2021 Crime Trends Are Off To A ‘Concerning Start,’ Police Tell St. Paul City Council

After a man tried to break into six houses last week, on the seventh attempt he got into a St. Paul home where two people in their 70s were sleeping.
